Problem

Transportation planning and traffic modeling for the Lubbock region needed refined Traffic Analysis Zones and a picture of county-to-county travel.

My role

GIS Analyst Intern at the City of Lubbock, working with the Lubbock MPO Director on the regional study.

Approach

  1. Refined Traffic Analysis Zones (TAZs) in ArcGIS for transportation planning and traffic modeling.
  2. Supported a county-to-county origin–destination study across the 15-county SPAG region.
  3. Analyzed 2019–2023 inbound and outbound trips to Lubbock County, adjusting for uneven monthly data coverage.

Agency project

Crash Data Analysis Dashboards for Four TxDOT Districts

Interactive ArcGIS crash dashboards built from TxDOT CRIS data for the Lubbock, Amarillo, Fort Worth and Childress Districts, plus dashboards for the Lubbock MPO and the City of Lubbock.
